HOW DOES HAIR RESTORATION WORK?

Hair loss is one of the most common complaints which cause patients visit skin clinics and specialist.

Hair is made of protein called Keratin. The average adult head has about 100000 to 150000 hairs. We lose 100 hair a day. As follicles produce new hair cells, old hair cells are being forced out through the skin. At any one time, about 90% of the hair on a scalp is growing. Each follicle has its own life cycle. This can be influenced by age, disease and other factors

There are three phases in this life cycle

  • Anagen: or growth hair lasts approximately 2 to 6 years.
  • Catagen: or transient hair that lasts approximately 2 to 3 weeks.
  • Telogen: or resting phase that lasts about 2 to 3 months. New protein cells are formed and a new hair replaces and the growth cycle starts again.

As people age, their rate of hair growth slows down.
We provide you a wide range of non-surgical treatments for hair loss such as PRP – MESOTHERAPY & CARBOXYTHERAPY to increase hair counts, hair thickness and prolonged Anagen Phase.

Causes of hair loss:

Family History (Heredity)

The most common cause of hair loss is a hereditary condition.

Hormonal changes and medical status

Hormonal changes are such as: pregnancy, child birth, menopause and thyroid problems. Medical status include: alopecia areata, which causes immune system related problems.

Medications and supplements

Hair loss can be a side effect of certain drugs, such as drug used for cancer, high blood pressure, heart problems, arthritis and also radiotherapy to the head.

A very stressful event

Every hair grows in a continuous cycle with 4 stages:

  1. Growth (Anagen)
  2. Transition (Catagen)
  3. Resting (Telogen)
  4. Shedding (Exogen)

In a normal cycle and healthy hair, the growth stage lasts about 3-6 years. In unhealthy situation, this lasts shorter. It means more hair is going through resting or shedding stages. Then we experience less hair growth and more hair loss. But remember losing 100 hairs per day is normal.
